This subject teaches Practical & Physical Skills. It contains all the very useful skills that most schools do not teach for some reason.
Humans are physical beings, made to live in a physical world. We believe it’s crucial to never forget this; to stay fit and learn physical skills. This includes basic things like tying your shoelaces, or household chores like doing dishes or cooking a meal. It definitely includes things like pencil control—learning to draw and write. But it also includes lessons about your body, about eating healthy and exercising responsibly.
In later levels, it includes many whimsical “programs” that prepare you for a specific job. These programs mostly test if you have the talent and the interest for that job. For example, by playing a game that simulates what it would be like to have the job. But whenever possible they also teach skills you might need for that job.
How To Teach It
Below are some general notes about teaching this subject as a whole.
This is obviously a subject about doing. Not theory, not reading, not sitting and listening, but doing. Be physical, exercise, play, train your body, practice the skill in real-life over and over.
All we can do, with our resources, is help you, guide you, give you a nice starting point. If we feel something else can teach it better, we will refer you to that. These general skills (like cooking a meal) can be picked up by watching free YouTube videos, for example.
Our “programs” about specific jobs are much more useful in that regard, as they’re completely unique and highly effective. These only appear in later levels, though, once Apprentices can read and count.
What Is (Not) Included?
As of right now, this store only sells digital products. Things to print or things to execute on a device. Physical skills, of course, benefit from physical objects. Almost all resources ask you to own physical items, or prepare a physical space, yourself.
For example, learning to wash the dishes is something you do by … washing actual dishes. We might have a fun tangible board game to get the idea across and make an Apprentice excited, but that’s where our influence ends!
